Cheryl Koehler, Publisher and Founder, Edible East Bay Magazine, requested this animation for her eBook after viewing my Gummy Worms project. I was delighted to fit it into my studio schedule this week in the hopes of brightening everyone’s lives with all of the social distancing and difficulties from the pandemic news.

The chocolate-pretzel bird’s nest basket is inspired by one made by famed chocolatier, Alice Medrich. It first appeared in her book, Chocolate Holidays. I always admired Alice and made many of her creations, including her famous Chocolate Raspberry Ruffle Cake, during my pastry chef career with Hyatt Hotels. So this project had a special meaning to me. I love working with chocolate!

It is actually very easy to make as you can see by the stop motion animation. I used couverture chocolate along with over 140 pretzel sticks. It only takes about an hour to make. It is made, styled, shot, and animated by me since I am following the S.F. Bay Area’s Stay Safe At Home order.
